I found my job as editor at Matador Network because of Twitter. I won a grant from the Adobe Foundation because of Facebook. I organized a photography exhibition at a closed door restaurant in Buenos Aires because of Google Plus.
So I am a big believer in the power of social media to connect people, find work and create opportunities for publishing, editing and exhibition.
Now, in conjunction with The Future Is Red, my personal website of writing, photography and social media musings, I’ll be leading two free webinars for artists and writers.
Writers and artists are smart and savvy enough to know how important it is to represent our work online. At the same time, we don’t want social media to distract us from our work. This webinar is designed to focus on straightforward ways for developing a social media presence that brings eyes and ears to your art, short stories, poetry and photography in meaningful and useful ways.
There are going to be two. Both on August 27th. One at 2pm and the other at 9pm. Both webinars are limited to 15 people to allow for questions and discussion.
What will the webinar cover?
We’ll start by talking about specific goals for your social media use. Then move on to discussing which of the social media platforms are best for those goals.
Finally, we’ll talk about ways to to make connections via social media. Meeting other writers, finding publishers, agents and galleries, resources for self publishing and collaborating with other people.
